Trail Mix + Miracle Fruit

Physical therapy went well today! My PT is the PT for a big sports team which gave me more confidence in the experience. He had me lay down and looked at my hip allignment and tested out my legs. He said he wished he had me last week because now I will be sore for my half marathon. Gasp! Does that mean I can run it? He said it shouldn’t be a problem since he believes I just have a tight muscle. He showed me a bunch of different exercises and I used the foam roller for the first time. Pain! Wowza! My legs are hurtin for real after that. I’m supposed to do all of the exercises everyday between now and the half and email him Monday to tell him how it went.

Honestly I highly doubt I will be able to run the whole thing. I would actually be completely shocked if I could because: 1. I have been experiencing pain to the point I could barely run for the past 3 weeks which leads to 2. I have NOT build up the training to run 13 miles!! The last long run I did (3 weeks go) was 8 miles, my mid training taper. I mean maybe bc it’s my third half I could squeak through it but come on. Let’s be real.

Me anxiously waiting for the orthopedist last week:

Legs that want to run!!!!

I’m sticking with my plan of bringing my cell with me and if I am experiencing pain, to call it quits. But I at least want to try. I mean I paid for it but more importantly I want to run with my friends!! This is my dream of having my best friends love running and running a race with them!! It’s too close to give up.

I don’t have much in the way of a great recipe tonight since we are having leftovers (I’m not complaining!)

James put horseradish on top of his?? He says his fam always put horseradish on stews and his review of this was that it was “all the good parts of a stew!”

A lot of times for dessert I do a make-your-own trailmix type deal. Tonight is a personal fave combo:

Tj’s Blister Peanuts – these are SO GOOD! I think they just roast them until they blister? I don’t know but I love their texture and extra crunch.

Dried Cranberries

Chocolate Chips (these are dangerous. I could eat these by the handful)

The peanuts and cranberries have a PB & J taste when you eat them together. And I just always find something extra satisfying about having a bunch of little things.

Have you heard about this miracle fruit that changes everything sour into something sweet?? Apparently after you chew this flavorless little fruit, for about 15 to 30 minutes, everything sour you chew tastes sweet!!

According to the CNN article: Lemons lose their zing and taste like candy. Oranges become sickeningly sweet. Hot sauce that usually burns the tongue tastes like honey barbecue sauce that scorches as it trickles down the throat.

What?! I want to try that!!

What is your fave trail mix combo??

  1. AH- so glad the PT went well! Go for it on the half marathon, but def listen to your body! Your rock! Fav trail mix- dried pineapple, dried mango, nuts!

  2. Maybe we’ll run into each other at the race. Umm, not that we really know what one another look like, but you never know!

  3. Glad about the PT and good luck with your half marathon. Just do what you can and know that you gave it your best no matter what and all you had to over come to get to that point. 🙂

I love any trail mix, especially those that have peanuts! Yum!

  4. I think I may have seen you at the race. Or at least someone who looks like you. Were you wearing a white baseball cap with red writing on it? I thought it would be kind of awkward to ask if it was you, especially since I don’t think I know what your name is!

  5. inmytummy: Yea! That was me!!! good eyes!! I’m glad you had a good race! I definitely liked the course!
